Enrique Gracia is Full Professor of Social Psychology at the University of Valencia, Spain, where he is Head of the Research Group ‘VIO-STRATEGY: Advanced research strategies on family and gender violence’. His research is focused on intimate partner violence against women, and other types of violence in intimate relationships (e.g., child maltreatment) with particular emphasis on public perceptions and attitudes, and the analysis of the influence of social environment-related variables (e.g., neighborhoods characteristics). He has also been involved in the development of new intervention strategies for batterer intervention programs, and the evaluation of success indicators of intervention programs for partner violence offenders. He has been a Principal Investigator, co-investigator, or Advisory Board member in about 30 research grants from different national and international funding bodies (e.g., European Commission, Swedish Research Council, National Institutes of Health). His areas of expertise include measurement issues and survey analysis regarding intimate partner violence against women. He has developed different measurement scales addressing attitudes towards intimate partner violence against women (e.g., perceived severity, acceptability, victim-blaming, willingness to intervene). He has also conducted pioneering research on neighborhood contextual influences on the spatio-temporal variations in intimate partner violence against women and child maltreatment risk. The World Health Organization invited him to be part of the ‘WHO Expert Group on methodological and measurement issues for violence against women statistics’ convened with the aim to improve new statistics and comparative international studies for a better monitoring of the goal 5.2. (Eliminate all forms of violence against all women and girls in the public and private spheres, including trafficking and sexual and other types of exploitation) of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Currently, he is the Editor-in-Chief of the journal Psychosocial Intervention (2020 Impact Factor, JCR: 5.083). He has been featured as one of the World's Top 2% Scientists in the Stanford University Study.
