Biografia
Pep Mulet Mestre és catedràtic de Matemàtica Aplicada a la Universitat de València. Va obtindre el doctorat en Matemàtiques per aquesta universitat en 1992. Va realitzar un postdoctorat a UCLA als anys 1995-96, on es va iniciar en la recerca en Processament d'Imatges amb Equacions en Derivades Parcials. Els seus interessos actuals són el plantejament de models matemàtics basats en equacions en derivades parcials en diversos camps científics i la seua simulació numèrica eficient.

- Resum del CV. Va obtenir la llicenciatura en Matemàtiques el 1989, i el doctorat en Matemàtiques el 1992 per la Universitat de València, ambdós amb premi extraordinari. És catedràtic al departament de Matemàtiques des 2016. Els seus temes d'interès científic comprenen diversos aspectes de l'anàlisi numèrica d'equacions en derivades parcials aplicats a la modelització matemàtica de processos biològics i industrials i altres àrees de la computació científica. Compta amb més de 70 publicacions en revistes de prestigi, 50 al primer quartil de les seves categories científiques. Aquestes publicacions compten amb més de 2500 cites en WOS. Ha participat en 12 projectes d'investigació, quatre d'ells de la comunitat europea, i ha estat investigador principal en 4 projectes nacionals des 2011. - Resum del CV. El declarant va obtenir la llicenciatura en Matemàtiques el 1989 i, després d'haver obtingut una beca predoctoral de la FPU, un doctorat en Ciències Matemàtiques el 1992, tots dos per la Universitat de València i amb premi extraordinari. Va obtenir un lloc com a professor ajudant de doctorat a la Universitat de València el 1993, com a professor titular el 1998 i és catedràtic al departament de Matemàtiques d'aquesta universitat des 2016. Se li va atorgar una beca postdoctoral FPI per visitar la Universitat de Califòrnia, Los Angeles (UCLA), entre 1995 i 1996. Durant aquest període, va començar amb el professor Tony Chan la investigació sobre temes relacionats amb el processament d'imatges (supressió de soroll i restauració d'imatges) per equacions en derivades parcials el·líptiques no lineals, la solució numèrica de les quals va requerir la resolució d'equacions lineals i no lineals i problemes d'optimització. Aquestes tècniques també es van aplicar per obtenir algoritmes més eficients que els clàssics en alguns problemes d'optimització en el disseny de components electrònics. Posteriorment, a partir de l'any 2000, els seus temes d'interès científic es van ampliar a diversos aspectes de l'anàlisi numèrica de sistemes hiperbòlics de lleis de conservació, especialment dinàmica de gasos, mètodes adaptatius i interpolació no lineal. Més recentment aquests temes d'interès s'han estès a la modelització matemàtica de processos biològics i industrials, l'anàlisi i resolució numèrica de models de trànsit vehicular, la sedimentació polidispersa i el flux en mitjans porosos i altres àrees diferents de la computació científica, com l'anàlisi i implementació de reconstruccions weno, el disseny de particions de flux per a sistemes hiperbòlics de lleis de conservació i l'ús d'integradors implícits-explícits per a la solució d'equacions en derivades parcials amb termes difusius fortament degenerats i no suaus mitjançant el mètode de línies. Al llarg de la seva carrera científica, va prestar la màxima atenció a la implementació dels seus codis en sistemes multiprocessador d'alt rendiment. Compta amb més de 70 publicacions en revistes de prestigi, 50 d'aquestes en el primer quartil de les seves respectives categories científiques. Aquestes publicacions compten amb més de 2500 cites en les bases de dades científiques recopilades en WOS. Ha participat en dotze projectes d'investigació, quatre d'ells de la comunitat europea, i ha estat investigador principal en els projectes MINECO MTM2011-27741, MTM2014-54388-P, MTM2017-83942-P, PID2020-117211GB-I00, PID2023-146836NB-I00 i CIAICO/2021/227.
