Ph.D. in Physics (1989). Professor of Earth’s Physics and Remote Sensing of the University of Valencia (UVEG). Director of the Image Processing Laboratory (UVEG). Founder and Director of the Global Change Unit since 1996 (UVEG). President, founder, of the six editions of “Recent Advances in Quantitative Remote Sensing – RAQRS”, an international symposium on remote sensing held in 2002, 2006, 2010, 2014, 2017, 2022. President of the Spanish Association of Remote Sensing 2013-2022. Coordinator of the Spanish chapter of the Latin American Society of Earth Observation (SELPER). Member of the Mission Advisory Group of the Copernicus Land Surface Temperature Monitoring, LSTM, mission of the European Space Agency (ESA). Member of the Scientific Group of the Indian-French TRISHNA mission. Member of the High Consultative Council on Research, Development and Innovation of the Presidency of the Generalitat Valenciana. Field Chief Editor of the International Journal Frontiers in Remote Sensing 2020-2023. Coordinator of the National Earth Observation Network (RNOT) of Spain. Member of Earth Science Advisory Committee (ESA) from 2003-2007. Member of the review Committee of the Earth Observation Envelope Programme (EOEP), ESA, 2005. Coordinator of the Land Product Validation/Land Surface Temperature and Emissivity Committee on Earth Observations Satellites (CEOS). More than 300 publications, 350 international Conferences and 30 book chapters. He has directed 22 theses and has been de PI of more than 70 research projects funded by ESA, Spanish Government and the European Union in the fifth, sixth, seventh, Interreg and Horizon 2020 programmes. Cited more than 26000 times, h=73, i10=191 (Google Scholar). Member of the Editorial Advisory Board of Several international Journals in Earth Observation (Journal of Remote Sensing, International Journal of Remote Sensing). Director of Revista Teledetección.  Member of expert panels in the European Community, ESA, German Research Foundation Clusters of Excellence, Ministry of Higher Education and Science of Denmark, Belgian Remote Sensing Research Programme, The Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR), Israel Science Foundation (ISF), Natural Environment Research Council of the UK, NASA (US), CESBIO France, Uruguay, FONDECYT Chile, Spanish Ministry of Research, etc. Copernicus accelerator Mentor (UE-ESA). 
Research expeditions:I have lead intensive field campaigns in France, Germany, Italy, Morocco, The Netherlands, Spain. The main aim of these campaigns was the collection of in situ spectral measurements with thermal radiometers and processing of airborne imagery for the simulation of future ESA missions. I participated in requirements consolidation studies of ESA’s missions (e.g. SPECTRA, FLEX, TIRI, LSTM) and CNES's missions (MISTIGRI, TRISHNA) and CNES and NASA THIRSTY mission.
