The Universitat de València, first in research and second in contribution to regional development according to the CyD ranking
The Universitat de València (UV) maintains their results in the CyD ranking, a State classification of universities that uses 38 indicators to measure the academic activity of each institution. In 20 of them, the performance of the Valencian centre is valued the highest, and in 14, one more than the last year, as halfway. Furthermore, in the classification by fields of knowledge, in Physics the academic institution is the second of Spain with more indicators of high performance. As for the Top 3 by dimensions, the Universitat de València highlights in research, where it is on first position of Spain, and in the contribution to regional development, where it is in second position.

The Fundación Conocimiento y Desarrollopromotes the ranking in which 82 universities participate (from which 48 are public and 34 are private), which represents the 93% of the 88 active institutions that teach in a degree, and 30 fields of knowledge are analysed. The methodology of the CyD ranking, with a multidimensional focus, offers indicators to measure and compare the performance of the universities in their different activity areas.
The CyD rankingallows to compare the results to an institutional level (as well as offering information as a whole, it also offers a vision of the diversity of institutional profiles) and to the level of the fields of knowledge (with degrees and master's degrees added to a specific field for their affinity or homogeneity). This web tool allows the user many options: creating their own ranking and consulting and comparing information of the universities through a group of indicators aggregated by dimensions. It presents the results grouping them in the high, halfway and low performance indicators.
In the five main analysed areas (contribution to regional development, teaching and learning, research, international orientation and transfer of knowledge), the CyD ranking highlights the University in the Top 3 by dimensions and puts it as first of Spain in research and second of Spain in contribution to regional development, in this last case along with other five universities. This way, in the research is where the Universitat de València stands out, having 8 indicators of high performance of a total of ten. It is also worth mentioning the contribution of the Universitat de València to the regional development where it has advance compared to 2024 going from 1 to 3, with a total of four items, in this section it has improved in ‘Internships of the region’ and in ‘Regional Publications’, and it stays the same in ‘Publications in companies of the region’.
In this 12th edition of the CyD ranking, the University is the only Valencian one that is among the group of the fifteen universities of Spain with the biggest number of indicators of the biggest performance group. The University is the 11th and the classification is headed by the Autonomic universities of Barcelona, Navarra, Pompeu Fabra and Madrid.
On the other hand, in the analysis by fields of knowledge, the Universitat de València stands out in Physics, where it is in 2nd position from the group of the State, accumulating 22 indicators of high performance, 12 of halfway, and 7 of low. It also obtains good results in Chemistry, with 21 indicators of high performance, 17 of halfway and 6 low; and in Biological Sciences, with 14, 22 and 6, respectively.
The provider of biometric data is Web of Science-Clarivate Analyticsand the data also proceeds from the universities, that provide through a web platform; from the Integrated University Information System (SIIU) and of the Scopus and PATSTAT database. And for some fields, the scientometric indicators have been built from the WoS database for the CWTS of Leiden.
