The UV triples signatures and consolidates sales in the Book Fair of Valencia 2025

The Universitat de València has closed their participation in the 60th Book Fair of Valencia with a positive balance, specially marked by the increase on signature number, which has tripled regarding last year. In total, fourteen titles counted with the presence of their authors, consolidating the bet of the institution with the goal of bringing closer university’s editorial production to the general public.

TheUniversity Library, in collaboration withVives Network, exposed in their stand more than 400 titles, coming both from the stamp PUV(UV Publications Service) and from another fifty university editorials from the state level. The selection, thought for the diverse profile of the fair, included as many novelties as catalogue works with a consolidated trajectory.

Despite the adverse conditions that affected the event —most specifically, the black out on 28th April, which obligated to close the facility and cancel some activities—, sales were stable regarding the former edition, with more than 500 copies sold, from which 367 were PUV publications.

“The increase on participation and interest of the public consolidate the compromise of the Universitat de València with the dissemination of knowledge and culture in open spaces for the citizenship”, said the Vice-Principal for Culture and Society,Ester Alba, present during the inaugural workshop along with the Director of the Publications Service, Teresa Ferrer.

For her part, Ferrer has underlined the continued bet of the University for the Book Fair as “an essential platform to raise awareness of the university editorial production and strengthen the bond between authors and readers”. In this edition, she has highlighted, “the signing of books has increased from 5 to 14, which demonstrates an increasing implication”.

Among the more remarkable activities, the presentation of the re-edition ofLa ciutat de València. Síntesi d’Història i Geografia Humana, by Manuel Sanchis Guarner —edited by Josep V. Boira inedited illustrations by the author—, brought together a numerous public. The panel discussion dedicated to the two last titles from the collection «Història i Memòria del Franquisme» also awakened great interest:El franquismo en ValenciaandGestos en la noche, which talk about lifestyles, repression and sociability during the Valencian post-war.

Among the most sold titles there are works such as La mujer enferma. Icono de la modernidad,L’hort de casa,Repensar el cerebro. Secretos de la neurociencia,La batalla por València, una victoria defensivaand Psicólogas pioneras. Historias de ciencia, feminismo y compromiso social.
