Hortensia Rico Vidal is since 1990 Tenured Professor of the Department of Microbiology and Ecology of the Faculty of Pharmacy of the Universitat de València. He focused his doctoral thesis on the Macromolecules of the Candida albicans cell wall: cytological and biochemical studies. In the research area he works in the field of microbiology of food: pathogenic microorganisms and yeasts, from which he has published a great quantity of publications in scientific journals. In the teaching area he taught the subjects of “Food Microbiology“, “Food hygiene”, and “Clinical Microbiology” in the Undergraduate Degrees of “Human Nutrition and Dietetics”, “Science and Technology” of Food and “Pharmacy”. He is member of the specialist group of the Spanish Society for Microbiology on the philamentous fungi and yeasts.
