He is graduated in Medicine and Surgery, he specialised in Paediatrics in 1970 and he completed his doctoral studies in 1973. He started working at the UV as trainee lecturer of Paediatrics at the Faculty of Medicine (1969-1973). Finally he got the chair in 1983 in Paediatrics and Childcare of the Faculty of Medicine of Valencia. He was also Director of the Department of Paediatrics in the UV and later Honorary Professor of the Universidad del Noroeste de Argentina (1999). In 2005 he got the medal “Guillermo Arce-Ernesto Sánchez Villares” for paediatric merit .

He has worked as intern in the Department of Paediatrics of the Hospital Clinico of Valencia and in the Central Services attached to the Department of Paediatrics. He was Head of the Department of Paediatrics between 1972 and 1976. He was also Head of the Department of Paediatrics of the Hospital Clínico Universitario of Valencia, post that he has occupied up to now.

He has collaborated in 70 chapters of paediatric books and he has participated in 45 lectures in national and international conferences of paediatrics. He has collaborated in 190 articles about paediatrics and finally he has directed 23 doctoral theses.
