ABSTRACT
This article is aimed to articulating some theoretical
elements provided by Social Identity Theory (Tajfel, 1978, 1981, 1982) in order
to explain intergroup conflict and mobilization towards sociopolitical change.
On the one hand, the effect of intragroup favoritism and intergroup
differentiation is analyzed with both sociopolitical and intrapsychic
stereotypes. Morever, the role played by the conditions of Identity,
Opposition and Ideology for change, and by Groupal Deprivation, Illegitimacy
and Instability on Political non-Institutional Participation is studied.

ABSTRACT
The CSC Scale analyzes the contemporaneous social
beliefs which characterize the social conception of postindustrial societies.
This article clarifies the principal CSC dimensions which were presented in
previous works. We have delved deeply into the ideology of three principal
CSC dimensions, in order to discuss the conservative or liberal components
of postmodern thought. We utilize Altemeyer's Authoritarianism Scale and
Tomkin's Polarity Scale for such purposes. These data suggest both liberal
and conservative elements in the beliefs of the postindustrial societies.

SOBRE LA CUESTIÓN DEL AUTORITARISMO DE IZQUIERDAS
Anastasio Ovejero
ABSTRACT
After showing the actuality of authoritarianism in
social psychology, we analyze the studies about left-wright authoritarianism,
reviewing the bibliography in this field and analyzing our empirical data.
Theses data had been obtained working with 407 subjects, all of them university
students, who completed the F Scale at different times in the last twelve
years. Our data supported the previous findings: persons on the right are more
authoritarian than those on the left. Finally, we try to interpret our data
from a psichosocial approach.

CONFLICTO POLÍTICO Y POLÍTICA DE LA RAZA EN
LOS ESTADOS UNIDOS*
David O. Sears
Aunque a
ABSTRACT
The most difficult ethnic conflict in the U.S. at
present, and throughout its history, concerns African‑Americans. Its
six historical periods, dating from the 17th century slave trade, were each
distinctive in terms of race relations, public sentiment and policy, and the
role of race in politics. Racism today arguably underlies opposition to racial
policies, black candidates, and many other domestic policies, in a form that
combines simple anti‑black attitudes with other nonracial values. An
examination of issues such as school busing supports the notion that racial
attitudes in the U.S. today are not rooted primarily in the effects of those
policies on voters' private lives but rather in what they symbolize. While
many gains in race relations are evident over the course of American history,
the future is made uncertain by the poor economic situation, a national
disarray, and resistance to policies specifically targeting minorities.
