Welcome to the homepage of Toni Font.

I am a Full Professor at the Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics (DAA) of the University of Valencia. I also have a second affiliation at the Astronomical Observatory of the same university. Prior to these appointments I conducted post-doctoral research at the Albert Einstein Institute in Potsdam (Germany) and at the Max-Planck-Institute for Astrophysics in Garching (Germany).

I have many years experience in large-scale supercomputing applications in relativistic astrophysics, in particular in the fields of numerical relativistic hydrodynamics and numerical relativity. In these disciplines I have participated in the development of multi-dimensional codes aimed at solving the equations of general relativistic hydrodynamics and magneto-hydrodynamics, along with the full Einstein equations describing the evolution of dynamical spacetimes.

I have played an active role on a number of computational science projects, including one US collaborative Grand Challenge level proposal involving neutron star binaries and one EU TMR Research Network involving the numerical modelling of astrophysical sources of gravitational radiation. I have long been a regular member of various scientific research projects funded by diverse agencies, local (Generalitat Valenciana), national (Spanish Government) and international (European Union), devoted to the numerical study of relativistic flows and the physics of compact objects.

Since July 2016 I am a member of the Virgo Collaboration and coordinate the activities of the Valencia Virgo Group. Our group was the first Spanish group to enter the Virgo Collaboration.

In the period 2009-2013 I have been the President of the Spanish Society of Gravitation and Relativity.
