Micromón is a Service-Learning and Citizen Science project within the Spanish-Portuguese Micromundo community and associated with Small World Initiative and Tiny Earth.
Mission and objectives
Engage university students in an international project that encourages scientific vocations among pre-university students and raises awareness of bacterial antibiotic resistance and the need to discover new antimicrobials.
History
The project was implemented at the University of Valencia in 2017/18, linked to Small World Initiative, Tiny Earth and the MicroMundo network. It later incorporated DivulSuperbac activities and consolidated the Micromón model.
Service-Learning
The model connects academic staff/MIPIs, university students/MITAs and secondary schools. MITAs receive prior training and then guide experimental sessions under academic supervision.
