In the penultimate conference by experts last 30 January, they talked about cities, health, well-being and social vulnerability, a very broad and quite complex area.
During the conference, they focused on explaining the understanding of climate change impacts on health; the vulnerability in health before climate change and their effects on urban health and inequalities in health; and adaptation and mitigation strategies.
Lastly, one of the most essential conclusions was to reduce inequalities as a measure for adaptation to climate change. Climate change deepens and multiplies vulnerabilities and existent inequalities.
On the other hand, they highlighted the urgency of reviewing and reinforcing the multilevel framework of adaptation policies with a perspective of health, also introducing public health in the disaster cycle.
The participants of this panel were Dominic Royé, Rachel Lowe, Manuel Franco, Sonia de Gregorio Hurtado, Abel López Díez, Carmen Íñiguez, Ana Vicedo-Cabrera and Robert Monjo.
