On Thursday 30 January, the relation between tourism and climate change was addressed since tourism is one of the social-economical activities that most evidently relate to effects of climate change. It is both an activity that emits greenhose gases and that relates with mobility and transport.
Tourism represents another vulnerability against climate change, since preventable impacts will affect demand and functioning patterns of touistic destinations.
According to preventable consequences of climate change in destination spaces, recommendations on mitigation and adaptation of tourist activity have been issues against the climate emergency.
Among these recommendations, a new tourism policy regarding the new climate reality and in order to adapt touristic stablishments and infrastructures will adapt touristic products timetables to avoid extreme heat and disperse offer of cultural and natural patrimony. It will also incorporat legal supernational measures and the creation of an information and coordination centre of cliamte action from tourism, that will develop the route of touristic activity in Spain.
