In the year 1567 the University of Valencia founded Valencia’s Botanical Garden, which was dedicated to the study of medicinal plants, a necessary complement to the studies of medicine that were being taught.
Throughout its history, the Botanical Garden occupied several venues in the city of Valencia. Finally, in 1802, it was moved to its present location, which was at that time called Hort de Tramoiered, situated in the heart of the city of Valencia.
