  BOTANICAL GARDEN

It was built in 1897 by the architect Arturo Mélida, who also designed the Cristopher Columbus monument in Madrid and the tomb of the discoverer of America, in the Cathedral of Seville. In the year 1987 the refurbishment of the old Botanical Garden was started; the inauguration of the research building marked its conclusion.

At present the building houses the herbarium, the germoplasm bank of endangered Valencian flora, the botanic library as well as lecture rooms and research laboratories.

The conference room and exhibition hall complete the scientific and cultural activities of the University of Valencia’s Botanical Garden.
