Lola Gaos was very well known for her roles in television and cinema during the 1970s. Her image of an actress of character and strength, who put her ideological values and professional integrity before the demands of the film industry of the time, still lingers in the memory of many Spaniards. The book Lola Gaos. La firmeza de una actriz deals with the social and political movement of culture during the Transition years through the eyes of this unforgettable actress, daughter and sister of intellectuals who lost the civil war in Valencia, political activist and main character in Furtivos, an iconic movie symbol of the era post Franco. Her presence was a given in all and every anti Franco trenches and in the newly rising feminist movement of the time. She was always ready to lend her voice in meetings, rallies, panel discussions, collective negotiations and other public protest acts. Actors and actresses, such as Lola Gaos, contributed to the intense social mobilisation of the Transition and helped with the rising of the new democratic culture in Spain.
