Sorry, Wrong Number
Anatole Litvak, 1948
Based on a radio play by Lucille Fletcher. The telephone is the only thing that connects Leona Stevenson (Barbara Stanwyck) with the outside world. Leona, director of a chemical products factory, is a hypochondriac and is laying down due to a psychosomatic ailment. Her husband (Burt Lancaster) is a very ambitious man from a modest origin who got married with her in order to improve his position within the factory. One day she uses the telephone to call him and then, a crossed line lets her hear a conversation in which two people talk about the imminent murder of a woman. (FILMAFFINITY)
