The exhibition 'ESPACIOS SAGRADOS. El redescubrimiento de las ciudades mayas en el siglo XIX: Teobert Maler en la Península de Yucatán' ('SCARED SPACES. Rediscovering Mayan cities of the 19th Century: Teobert Maler in the Yucatan Peninsula') presents a selection of photography by the Austro-German architect and photographer Teobert Maler, who documented the ancient Mayan cities during the 19th Century. The sample highlights panoramics, architectures and sculptures of the Yucatan and Campeche regions, revealing their cultural grandieur and wealth.
The Maler images not only showcase the impressive pre-Hispanic architecture but also captures the presence of the current descendants of the Mayan people, reflectiv the continuity of traditions and cultural patrimony.
