Keeping an Eye on Earth

This map shows the fires detected during the last 6 hours by our MSG/SEVIRI receiving station. The older the detection, the less opaque it appears on the map. Fires detected from MSG-SEVIRI data only over Europe during the last 24 hours over Europe can be viewed here.

Hotspots are detected by a local implementation of the Calle et al. (2006) algorithm for MSG/SEVIRI.
