Keeping an Eye on Earth

This map shows the fires detected over Europe during the last 12 hours by our MTG FCI receiving station. The older the detection, the less opaque it appears on the map.

Hotspots are detected by a local implementation of the Calle et al. (2006) fire detection algorithm for MSG-SEVIRI.
