Main Researcher

Manuel Sánchez del Pino

Manuel Sánchez del Pino

Head of the Proteomics Core Facility of the Centro de Investigación Príncipe Felipe (CIPF).

Sánchez del Pino started as a graduate student at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Valencia where he got his Bsc working in Histone acetylation. In 1990 he moved to the Department of Physiology and Biophysics at the Finch University of Health Scicences/The Chicago Medical School in North Chicago (Illinois, EEUU, now Rosalind Franklin University). He completed his PhD working on Neutral Amino Acid Transport Across the Blood-Brain-Barrier using Membrane Vesicles in the laboratory of Dr. Richard A. Hawkins. After one more year working in the same Department he moved, in 1995, to Cambridge University (UK) to on Protein Folding in the laboratory of Sir Alan R. Fersht as a postdoctoral fellow. Sánchez del Pino came back to Spain at the end of 1998 to join the laboratory of Dr. Jesé Mª Mato at the University of Navarra. There he worked in the Regulatory Mechanisms of Liver Methionine Adenosyl Transferase as well as in the creation of the University’s Proteomics Unit. At the end of 2003 he moved to the Fundación Valenciana de Investigaciones Biomédicas (former Instituto Citológico and current Centro de Investigación Príncipe Felipe) to set up there the new Proteomics Core Facility where he is still working.
