José M. Peiró, President-Elect of the International Association of Applied Psychology (IAAP).

José María Peiró, Professor of Social Psychology at the University of Valencia was elected as president-elect of the IAAP. He will undertake the presidency of this association in the period 2014-2018. The president of the IAAP Elections Committee, Prof. Michael Frese (University of Singapur), has recently announced the results of the elections to all IAAP members.  The elections were held online from the 10th of May to the 7th of June, in which members from more than 80 countries took part.


The International Association of Applied Psychology has 17 divisions that cover almost all areas of applied psychology. Currently, the Association has around 1500 members.  This is the oldest international association of psychologists, founded in 1910. Its first president was Prof. E. Claparede (Switzerland). The IAAP is a recognized NGO, participating in various international bodies, such as United Nations. This association organizes an International Congress of Applied Psychology (ICAP) every four years. The next ICAP will be held this year in Melbourne from the 11th to the 17th of July.  

Prof. Peiró will be the first Spanish psychologist undertaking this function in an association with maximum representation of applied psychologist worldwide. José M. Peiró is Professor at the University of Valencia and Director of IDOCAL (Research Institute in Personnel Psychology, Organizational Development and Quality of Working Life) at the same university. He is also a researcher-professor at the IVIE. In July, during the ICAP (Melbourne) he will step out of the presidency of the IAAP Division 1: Organizational Psychology and will undertake his new function in the Executive Committee of the IAAP.
