The Universitat de València hosts an international congress that analyses legal challenges, ethics, and democratic control derived from the use of Artificial Intelligence in public administration, with the participation of experts from several universities and organisations.
The Universitat de València is hosting on 4 and 5 December 2025 the International Congress “Garantia dels drets de la ciutadania davant la IA emprada per les administracions públiques” (Right guarantees of citizens on the use of AI in public administrations), an academic meeting dedicated to analyse how artificial intelligence is transforming administrative action and which legal guarantees must be reinforced to protect citizenship rights.
The congress will take place at the Library Assembly Hall "Gregori Maians" and is organised by the Regulation Research Group of the Department of Administrative Law of the Universitat de València. The congress will gather experts from several universities and public organisations to address, from a comparing perspective, the main challenges of AI use in the public sector.
The programme is structured in six thematic panels that will address issues such as the constitutional and procedural guarantees on automated decisions, transparency and accountability, improvement of the public management with AI, the impact of vulnerable groups and the prevention of biases and exclusions, as well as risks in fields such as health, security and urban planning.
The congress will conclude with a closure conference carried out by a representative of the Spanish Agency for Data Protection, focused on public policies for a safe, ethic and satisfied use of artificial intelligence in the public sector.
