Presentation

The University Master’s Degree in Functional Recovery in Physiotherapy offers advanced training in the use of therapeutic exercise as a key tool in clinical physiotherapy practice. Functional recovery, grounded in the rational and scientific application of movement, is currently one of the main therapeutic strategies for the treatment of acute and chronic conditions, as well as for the prevention of relapses and the improvement of quality of life.

The curriculum includes a mandatory core module taken by all students, covering the fundamental aspects of functional recovery: from clinical reasoning, functional assessment and exercise planning, to cross-disciplinary subjects such as statistics, critical reading of scientific evidence, and the use of technological tools applied to physiotherapy. Building on this foundation, each student can then specialize in one of three optional pathways — musculoskeletal, neurological or cardiorespiratory — depending on their interests and subject to availability of places. This structure allows for a rigorous shared training while supporting professional specialization tailored to each student’s goals.

With a teaching staff composed of professionals with recognized academic and clinical expertise, the program is aimed at both recent physiotherapy graduates and practicing professionals seeking to update their skills, specialize, or open new avenues of professional or research development.

The program is taught face-to-face, in Spanish, over one academic year (60 ECTS credits). It qualifies graduates to access doctoral studies and opens the door to a wide range of professional opportunities in clinics, specialized centres, mutual health organizations, hospital units, research, and academia.

This master’s degree is more than just a postgraduate program — it is a commitment to clinical excellence and to positioning exercise as a powerful and evidence-based therapeutic intervention.
