Mediation and other dispute resolution mechanisms to be debated at the Faculty of Law

On June 8th, in the Saló de Graus Vicente L. Montés Penadés (Department of Civil Law -2P15-), a conference will be held, which will bring together experts to discuss mediation at the University and the appropriate means of dispute resolution.

On Wednesday June 8th, at 11.15 h., the conference entitled "Mediation and other appropriate dispute resolution mechanisms at the University" will be opened by the Vice-Dean for Economics, Planning and Campus of the Faculty of Law, Fabiola Meco. 

The first panel, moderated by Raquel Guillén, professor of Civil Law at the UV and director of the Master's Degree in Mediation, Arbitration and Conflict Management in Private Law at the UV, is scheduled for 11.30 h. In this first session, Leticia García, professor of Civil Law at the UCM and president of CUEMYC, will speak on "Mediation at the University: experiences and challenges in the face of the new Law on coexistence".  Eduardo Vázquez de Castro, full professor of Civil Law at the University of Cantabria, will also take part in this panel, giving a talk on "Compliance and collaborative conflict resolution in university organisations".

The second panel will start at 12.30 h., moderated by María Elena Cobas, Tenured professor of Civil Law at the UV. The colloquium will feature María Elena Olmos, secretary general of the UV and full professor of State Canon Law at the UV, who will focus on the "Principles of university coexistence. The coexistence commission at the Universitat de València". The next intervention, by Javier Plaza, data protection delegate of the UV and full professor of Civil Law at the UV, will revolve around the title "Conciliation and expert opinion in the Draft Law on Procedural Efficiency and its applicability to universities". 

This colloquium, co-financed by the Faculty of Law within the framework of the budget for academic activities for teaching and research staff 2022, has been organised by the UV's Master's Degree in Mediation, Arbitration and Conflict Management in Private Law, the University Conference for the Study of Mediation and Conflict (CUEMYC) and the Jorge Muñoz Chair in Transparency, Second Chance and Bankruptcy Law of the Universitat de València.
