The overall objective of this project is to continue the work carried out in the PROMETEO and Ministry projects mentioned above, in order to increase knowledge about the mode of action of the Vip and Cry proteins to contribute to a better understanding of how Bt toxins work and interact with each other and other molecules, and to understand which steps are key in the developing resistance against them.

The specific objective of the project can be summarised in:

• The structural and functional analysis of the Vip3 family proteins.
• The study of the action mechanism of new Cry proteins.
• New knowledge about the Cry protein modus operandi.
• The analysis of the basis of the resistance to the Cry and Vip3 proteins.
