Colloquium ‘Voices from Gaza: three stories from the exile’
On Monday, 3 June at 6pm the colloquium ‘Voices from Gaza: three stories from the exile’ will be hosted in the Muralla Hall at the Principal Peset Hall of Residence of the Universitat de València. This event is organised by the Valencia with Palestine platform, the Principal Peset Hall of Residence and in collaboration with the HumanFest festival.
This colloquium is part of the activities and actions of the UV in solidarity with Palestine.
The colloquium is moderated by Lorena Tortosa, Member of the Executive Commission of the Unió de Periodistes Valencians, and will be attended by Hanan Kaddoura, Basma Rivad Mureu and Mohammed Shat.
Hanan Kaddoura is a Palestinian in exile, born in Lebanon, with a degree in English philology and a diploma in business and administration. While in Lebanon, she worked for the UNRWA as an administrative assistant. She now works as a humanitarian worker.
Basma Riyad Murad graduated from the Al-Azhar University in Gaza with a degree in computer science. She works as a graphic designer and visual artist. Her hobby is decoration and pottery and she has two sons and two daughters.
Finally, Mohammed Shat is a dedicated film producer and the Communications Manager of the Red Carpet Human Rights Film Festival in Gaza. Over the past five years, Mohammed has worked hard on proposals and fundraising for the festival, supporting its mission to highlight human rights through film. He has collaborated with talented filmmakers in Gaza, and has launched projects aimed at bridging the cultural gap between Palestine and audiences in Europe and the US. These initiatives showcase Palestinian narratives, but also empower young people to use film as a powerful tool to defend their communities. Through his leadership, Mohammed provides a platform for young filmmakers to tell their stories and promote meaningful social change.
The Valencia with Palestine platform, which includes 103 organisations and 565 people, was created with the aim of consolidating a space committed to the defence of human rights and justice. This project was conceived as a response to the urgent need to address the critical situation suffered by Palestinians, especially in Gaza.
