Biographical Note:

Associate Professor (Tenured) of Applied Economics at the University of Valencia since 1986.
Official at the European Commission since 1986. During the period 1986-98, at the Directorate General of Economic and Financial Affairs. During 1998-2005, with the Directorate General of Employment and Social Affairs. As from 2005, on unpaid leave on personal grounds from the European Commission.
Guest Scholar at The Brookings Institution, on special leave from the European Commission (1993-94).
Visiting Professor at the University of Antwerp (1989?90 and 1990-91).
Author of La peseta ante el sistema monetario europeo (1988).
Doctor in Economics (with High Honours) from the University of Valencia (1984).
Ph.D. Prize to the best Ph.D. dissertation granted by the Faculty of Economics of the University of Valencia (1983-84).
Certificate of Advanced European Studies from the College of Europe (1980).
Licenciado in Economics from the University of Valencia (1977).
