Biography

Manuel Soriano-Ferrer is Fulltime Professor of Developmental and Educational Psychology at the University of Valencia, where he coordinates the Research Group on Specific Learning Disorders and Comorbidities (ITEAC). Previously, he was a tenured professor at the University of Almería until 2005. He has worked professionally for 10 years as a psychologist, combining university research and practice, thus acquiring practical knowledge about assessment and intervention, especially in Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Specific Learning Difficulties, and Language Development Disorder, which have been the core topics of his research interest. In 2008, he obtained the title of Specialist in Clinical Psychology, and in 2013, he had his doctorate in psychology in the USA, “Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Psychology,” officially recognized. He has obtained funding in competitive public calls at the regional and national levels for various projects related to reading difficulties and ADHD.

Interest in neurodevelopmental disorders is also evident in the continuity of the university's own degrees on learning difficulties (University Certificate and currently University Expert in Developmental Dyslexia). He has been director of the official Master's Degree in Special Education at the University of Valencia (2021-24). He also participates in the editorial committee of journals in the field (Reading & Writing, Exceptional Children, Frontiers in Psychology, Psychology in the Schools). Since 2005, he has regularly collaborated in the evaluation of R&D research projects at ANECA.
