Assaig dels membres de l'OFUV

The Philharmonic Orchestra of the Universitat de València (OFUV) and the Choral School La Nau have opened their respective application forms for new members for the 2026-2027 academic year. Both ensembles, which are part of the UV’s Area of Musical Activities, offer training in music for people of different ages.

On the one hand, the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Universitat de València has announced the auditions for new members to join. Those interested must officialise their pre-enrolment through the official form before the 16 October and pass their auditions, which will be held starting on 26 October.

The OFUV has offered positions for oboes, English horns, tubas, violins, violas, cellos and double bass for the 2026-2027 academic year. Aspirants must not be over the age of 23 years old and must be in their last year of their professional music studies, at least. If applicants are studying a university degree, they will have a higher chance to enter.

The Philharmonic Orchestra carry out their activities throughout the academic year with weekly rehearsals on Mondays (from 07:00pm to 10:00pm) and on Thursday (from 08:00pm to 10:00pm) in the Charles Darwin Hall at the Burjassot Campus. Besides the artistic and educational experience, the OFUV offers financial aids for music training and academic acknowledgment for students from the Universitat de València and from the music conservatories of València and Castelló.

From the very beginning, the OFUV established itself as one of Spain’s best university orchestras since it combines artistic excellency with teaching young musicians in a university environment. It is directed by Hilary Garcia Gázquez, it is composed by a group of 80 young musicians and it aims to give them high-quality training in orchestral interpretation given by specialised teachers.

On the other hand, the Choral School La Nau also opened their registration process for the next academic year. Their music training is aimed at children from ages four to sixteen. Rehearsals will take place in the Capella de la Sapiència at the Cultural Centre La Nau on Mondays from 06:00pm to 07:15pm. Those interested must officialise their registration with this form

The Choral School, which is directed by Mónica Perales i Massana, is an educational and musical project that aims to promote chorus signing from an early age. This favours musical development, creativity, teamwork and co-operation. Throughout the academic year, members will participate in weekly rehearsals, concerts, conferences and exchanges with other child choral groups.

With these announcements, the Universitat de València reaffirms their commitment to music training and culture outreach, offering artistic participation itineraries that start in childhood and go all the way to university.
