Offers include choral, orchestral and traditional music-based proposals for all kinds of profiles, ages and training levels.
Once again music takes up an important space in the cultural activity of the Universitat de València at the beginning of the new academic year and the start of the registration and access audition process of its various ensembles. From the choral training for children, the Choral School of La Nau, to the orchestral experience of the OFUV, Valencian traditional music or jazz, the Musical Activities Department offers proposals for various profiles, ages and training levels.
Furthermore, this season the new registrations of the musical offers at the Universitat have increased and its programme, combining training, interpretation and cultural participation with the Big Band UV Jazz, has strengthened.
Along with other ensembles such as Orfeó Universitari de València, l’Orquestra Filharmònica de la Universitat de València, The Choral School of La Nau and la Colla de Dolçaines i Percussió and the new Big Band broaden the possibilities to participate in other musical projects of the Universitat.
Music for different ages, interests and levels
The various proposals offered by the Musical Activities Department include different ways to get closer to the practice of music. The Choral School of La Nau is intended for children. It combines musical training with choral work and the promotion of Valencian music.
Aimed at children from the age of 4 to the fourth year of ESO, enrolment will be open until all availability is filled. The registration can be done through the enrolment form. Rehearsals will take place at the Sapiencia Chapel of the Cultura Centre La Nau on Mondays in the afternoon.
For young performers with musical training, the Orquestra Filharmònica de la Universitat de València (OFUV) offers an orchestral experience linked with musical training and development. The call of this year looks to add new members with specialties in oboe/English horn, tuba, violin, viola, cello, and double bass.
To join the Orquestra Filharmònica, access auditions must be passed from the date of 26 October. Pre-registration is free and must be presented before 16 October.
Applicants cannot be over the age of 23 and, at least, must take the last years of professional musical studies. The people enroled in university studies will be positively valued. The pre-registration will be managed through this form.
The Orfeó Universitari de València (OUV), considered the oldest choir in the Nation, is welcoming new voices to its 2026-2027 season. The new season will include symphonic-choral projects, modern music, Christmas carols or sacred music, amongst other projects.
Registrations to join the ensemble will be open until 10 October. People interested must fill in the registration form.
The traditional Valencian music has a space in the Colla de Dolçaines i Percussió UV, founded with the purpose of consolidating a training ensemble dedicated to the performance of traditional Valencian music.
The period of incorporation will be open for the first semester until 2 October. This form must be filled in. Rehearsals will be on Wednesdays, and they will start on 7 October and end on 12 May 2027 at the Language Centre UV.
The Big Band UV Jazz is a training focused on a jazz repertoire that, after its summer performance, starts a journey as a solid ensemble of the Universitat. The access auditions will take place 28 September at the Joan Plaça Auditorium. Pre-registration for the access auditions will be open until 23 September through this form.
The new academic year offers a new opportunity to join the ensembles of the Universitat de València and to become part of, regardless of age, instrument or style, a university community that uses music as one of its creation, training and cultural participation path.
