Art in society
Sala AEA-Ademuz Espai d’Art
(research line 2013-14)

The Ademuz Espai d’Art (AEA) of El Corte Ingles along with the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Sant Carles of Valencia and with the coordination of the “Romà de la Calle” Documentation Centre of Valencian Contemporary Art have scheduled six new exhibitions, fulfilling thus the lustrum of a cultural initiative that began its journey in 2009. This time, the work of artists although of heterogeneous poetics will allow the reflections and criticisms about our present.

The importance of a comprehensive portrayal around the circumstances that complicate the current context of our societies, it is particularly necessary at the present moment. This is formally revealed through the different artistic disciplines through which our young artists with their complexities and peculiarities see the world. And this is to commit with a task that moreover could join a critical tradition of the Valencian plastic art of the 60s, which include names like Estampa Popular o Equip Crónica, building a questioning and social criticism path.

Without enough time for the status quo, the art anticipates a number of possible directions, and it can do it thanks to its lyrical potential, from its subversive language art can express the indigestible or be involved in the denounce, and even is capable of representing itself. This journey materialised in images created by Carolina Gimeno, Julia Prat, Juan Marcos Giménez, Myriam Jiménez, Juan González and Fanny Galera. The journey establishes an ongoing local and universal dialogue, with the historical itinerary of contemporary art, with its twists, guidelines and reinventions. In the end, six proposals that are incorporated into the Valencian art circuit, speaking to us from metaphorical and hermetic means of expression, outlining for us the causes of restlessness or transmitting to us, ultimately, reasons for doubting.
