Professor Giner, University Professor in the Accounting Department of the Facultat d'Economia of the University of Valencia, is among the 20 members of the new Council to develop sustainability information dissemination standards for the European Union, which must be applied by large and listed companies (except micro-enterprises).

The European Commission’s decision to set standards for the dissemination of sustainability information is framed in the European Green Pact and is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals. The proposal for a directive issued in April 2021 recognizes that lack of information is an obstacle to ensuring that businesses' activities are sustainable, and makes it difficult to channel funding to them. According to the proposal, the European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG) will develop sustainability standards, including environmental, social and corporate governance aspects, which will eventually be accepted by the Commission. In order to undertake this new mission, EFRAG has incorporated a new Board, the Sustainability Reporting Board, into its organizational structure. The Council includes the various interest groups, including the European Accounting Association, which is represented by Professor Giner.

Congratulations to Professor Begoña Giner for this new success and international recognition of her professional worth!
