Methodology and quantitative research methods in social sciences deals with general research methodology in social sciences and its evolution within the context of science activity. The design and planning of empirical research, its validity and limitations. The hipothesis contrast. Most used statistical tools in social sciences and knowledge of the models that support them to be able to correctly explain data.
Research lines accounting studies and analyses the main tendencies in research in several areas of accounting and finances, from the material and papers of research groups of the department. And, additionally, with the collaboration of invited researchers coming from other Spanish or foreign universities.
Research work has the goal of producing a research paper on an accounting research subject in which adaptation to the structure, the applied methodology, the relevance of the conclusions, as well as the formal aspects that a research work must meet will be assessed.
Students that take and complete the specialisation in accounting research will have their training period of the doctoral programme in Accounting completed, so that the only activity to be carried out in the research period will be the elaboration and defence of his/her doctoral thesis.
The accounting research module (24 credits) can also be taken by those students who have already completed another specialisation of the Master's degree or have completed another master's degree in the areas of economy and business or related to them, and that are interested in the doctoral programme in accounting. In the latter case, said module will make up a compulsory activity within the research period, after which he/she will need to write and defened his/her doctoral thesis.
