Palau Cerveró

The Palau de Cerveró is the headquarters of the institution, located in the neighbourhood, a few metres from the Torres de Serrans, the historic centre of Valencia. The building has an irregular floor of the 18th century of traditional baroque composition, which consists of basement, mezzanine, second floor of great height and upper floor. The main façade has molded stone doorway with a rococo style noble shield. The shield has the weapons of Don Ignacio Cerveró (a cypress beaten by two savages with maces), the emblems of the family Aznar (two lions and a poplar leave), Caldés family (three cooking pots), and the Tena family (an arm wielding a sword). Through the front door you can access, through a hallway with wooden joists, towards a courtyard flanked by four arches, where at the bottom is the remarkable staircase, which leads to the upper floors.

Don Ignacio Cerveró Aznar was the son of José Cerveró and María Aznar, who married to Vicenta Caldés Tena, this is why in the shield of the facane you can find the emblems of both families. In the 19th century, with their son, the Cerveró lineage died out. From this time the house underwent different uses: courts headquarters, educational centre, private residence, etc.
