Objectives:

The course aims to explain the positive and negative consequences of medicines to the welfare of the population. The higher difficulty to develop and sell new medicines as well as the necessity to carry out long-term studies on their effects will be analysed. The course will explain the different grades in which populations have access to medicines, depending on the area of the planet. Additionally, the use of natural products as medicines and the influence of culture in the use of medicines will be addressed. The course will inform of the vast inequalities that exist in the access to medicines among population of different global areas.

  3. From molecule to medicine
  4. Assessment of the positive effects of medicines
  5. Assessment of medicine safety
  6. Rational use of medicines and self-medication.
  7. The use of natural products as medicines. Phytotherapy
  8. Ethno-pharmacology
  9. Economic aspects of using medicines
  10.  Pharmaceutical market and legal regulation of medicines.
