- Mathematic Routes in Valencia Course
- 2 credits
- From 20, 22, 24, 27, 29 and 31 October 2008. The first four classes will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and the last two will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Objectives of the activity:
- To relate mathematics to life.
- To enhance the possibilities of the field as a didactic resource to study the functionality of mathematics.
- To discover the elements of the field of mathematics which are present in reality around us.
- To facilitate the use of certain strategies that allows analysing and systematizing.
- To understand the urban structure of the city of Valencia since its origins.
- To appreciate the beauty that certain geometric elements generates.
Syllabus:
- To study the historic vision of the development of mathematics.
- To compare various numbering systems or different calculation methods used by different cultures.
- Organisation and measure of space and time.
- Description of polygonal and geometric forms.
- Measurements and proportions in buildings and streets that serve as a reference.
- Didactic and mathematic analysis of the content of the routes, as well as its practical realisation.
