On 11 July 2025, the Annual Conference of the University Institute for Biotechnology and Biomedicine Research (BIOTECMED) will take place at the Assembly Hall of the Science Library “Eduard Boscà”. The event will have lectures on aging, biotechnological plague control, genomic tools, entrepreneurship and work experiences.

The University Institute for Biotechnology and Biomedicine Research (BIOTECMED) holds on Thursday, 11 July 2025 its Annual Conference 2025, a consolidated date on their schedule of scientific activities. The event will take place at the Assembly Hall of the Science Library “Eduard Boscà” of the Universitat de València, and will begin at 9:30am with the presentation and reception by the Director of the Institute, Juan Ferré Manzanero.

The day will include six lectures addressing multiple issues of the biomedical and biotechnological research. Celia P. Martínez Jiménez (BIOTECMED) will open the event with a talk about aging and hepatic heterogeneity at a cellular level. Next Leopoldo Palma (BIOTECMED) will present the advances in the usage of pathogenic nematodes and their symbiotic bacteria as natural tools for agricultural pests control.

Genomics research will be present as well from the hands of Beltrán (Centre de Regulació Genòmica, Barcelona), who’ll talk about the use of deep mutational scanning techniques in order to understand the clinical mechanisms of genetic variants.

After a coffee break at 11:15am, the day will continue with the participation of Pilar Domingo-Calap (I2SysBio), who will present the spin-off “Evolving Therapeutics” of the Universitat de València. Beatriz Llamusi (Arthex Biotech S.L.) will offer an entrepreneurship vision as an alternative to the scientific career.

Finally, Juan Ferré Manzanero will bring the morning session to an end with the lecture “A stroll through the life of a scientist”, prior to the closing ceremony at 1:30pm. The day will end with a self-service lunch at the cafeteria of the Faculty of Pharmacy at 1:45pm.

This annual meeting is a great opportunity to share advances, generate synergies and explore new professional perspectives within the biotechnology and biomedicine industries.
