The Universitat opens its door to pre-university students and their families in the open Visits

More than one thousand three hundred people have visited the faculties and the School of the Universitat de València in the first edition of the open Visits to the Universitat that took place last Friday, 9 May, in the Universitat de València campus. This new activity of the programme “Conèixer la Universitat” pretends to announce the degrees, resources and facilities of the Universitat among the pre-university students and their families, as well as to the interested people who help making academic decisions.
The members of the Management Team of each faculty and the direction of the ETSE have welcome the visitors and were in charge of explaining the degrees and how each centre works. With the collaboration of the university students, who have shown the facilities of the centres and the campus. Moreover, there have been spaces to share concerns and ask doubts that usually appear in an important moment as the decision of university studies, both academics, which were resolved by professors, and administrative questions, in which the administrative staff of the centre involved intervened. Furthermore, each visitor received a guide, edited by the Student Information and Promotion Service (Sedi), that lists the degrees by centre and information and the answer of frequent questions about the access and admission to the university.
At the end of the visit, the people who attended had the opportunity to evaluate it in an opinion survey. The results offered are very positive: the most valuable thing were the people who attended and guided them during the visit, followed by the tour and content of it, the facilities and the talks. Almost every survey respondent recommends to continue with this informative initiative and more than the 90% considers that it will influence in their election of studies.
The university centres which have created more expectation and that have embrace more visitors have been the Faculty of Economics, Law, Biological Science, Philology, Translation and Communication and the School of Engineering (ETSE), followed by the Faculty of Teacher Training and the Faculty of Nursing and Podiatry.
In this first edition of the open Visits to the Universitat have taken part the following centres:
- Blasco Ibáñez campus. The faculties of Physical Activity and Sports Science; Philology, Translation and Communication; Philosophy and Educational Sciences; Physiotherapy; Geography and History; and Nursing and Podiatry.
- Burjassot Campus. School of Engineering (ETSE-UV) and the faculties of Biological Sciences, Mathematical Science, Pharmacy and Food Sciences, Physics and Chemistry.
- Els Tarongers Campus. The faculties of Social Sciences, Law, Teacher Training and Economics.
- Ontinyent Campus UV. Degree in Business Management and Administration (ADE) of the Faculty of Economics; Physical Activity and Sport Sciences of the Faculty of Physical Activity and Sports Science; Degree in Preschool Education, of the Faculty of Teacher Training; and Nursing of the Faculty of Nursing and Podiatry.
The open visitsto the Universitat, initiative of the Office of the Vice-Principal of Studies, has been possible thanks to the involved teams of the sixteen centres that, simultaneously, have hosted the visits to facilitate the interested people in taking university studies can make decisions well informed. They count with the collaboration of Principal’s Delegation for Academic Trajectories and the organisation of the Information and Promotion Service for Students (Sedi).
The 'Conèixer la Universitat' programme also includes the Visits at the Universitat, in the centres of secondary education and training courses that which to accompany their students to know more about the degrees and the facilities of the Universitat; Information Day for guidance professionals that has already taken place (recordings are available on the Conèixer website) and an informative resource about the access and admission to the Universitat, which will take place in June and which deals with pre-enrolment, enrolment and fees and waiting lists, among other relevant issues to future students.
