Dr Vicente Roca Velasco

Since 1997 Vicente Roca Velasco is Zoology Professor of the Universitat de València. Since December 2005 he is dean of the Faculty of Biology Science and faculty member of the Universitat de València.

He has been director of the Animal Biology Department (1999-2002) and of the Zoology Department (2002-2005) of the Universitat de València.

He has been vice-chairperson (1989-1993) and chairperson (1998-2005) of the Spanish Herpetology Association, as well as editor of the Spanish Magazine of Herpetology (1993-1998) that edites this Society.

He has three six-year research recognized by the CNEAI (National Evaluation Commission on Research Activities) and he has led five doctoral theses in his research field, the ecology and parasitic phylogeography of reptiles and amphibians. He has publicated more than 80 research articles in international and national magazines. He has participated in numeous projects of european, national and regional research, some of them related to the recovery of endangered species, like the giant lizart of El Hierro, giant lizard of La Gomera or mallorcan midwife toad.

He has been mixed up with the project of Teaching Innovation developed in the Faculty of Biology Science of Universitat de València.

He is board member of the Spanish Council of Deans of Biology.
