Occupational health psychology (OHP) is one of the most heavily researched areas within the work domain, although it is not well publicized in the traditional WOP psychology domain. This course introduces Master students to OHP as an advanced topic in WOP psychology. OHP is an emerging interdisciplinary field concerned with psychological factors in employee health, safety, and well-being. We will review the major theories and empirical research showing the effects of the work environment on employees’ health and wellbeing. Discussion and interaction is an essential tool in my teaching. I use class sessions to facilitate an interactive learning in which we learn from each other. During the lecture I expect students to ask anything they do not understand or comment on anything that they are interested in. For me, interaction and discussion at class is important because: 1) it helps connect the content of the class with students’ experiences, 2) it allows students to feel authorship of their learning during lectures and, 3) it motivates students to attend the lectures. OBJECTIVES
