News: Professor Dr. Robert Roe

Professor Dr. Robert Roe ( University of Maastricht, The Netherlands) will present a seminar and a workshop during his visit at the University of Valencia about Work Psychology “Work analysis”

Robert Roe has taught in work psychology, personnel psychology, organizational psychology, organizational behavior, organizational theory, and research methodology for graduate, MBA and PhD students in psychology and business administration. He teaches International HRM at UBC in Vancouver, Organizational psychology at the University of Trento in Rovereto, Work Analysis, and Theory and Applications of Design in the European Master W&O Psychology of the Erasmus Mundus Programme. He gives seminars en workshops in temporal research en design for practice.

Robert Roe is emeritus Professor of Organisational Theory and Organisational Behaviour at Maastricht University (the Netherlands). In recent years he has been visiting professor at the University of Trento (Italy) and the University of British Columbia (Canada). In earlier years he was Professor of Work & Organisational Psychology at the Dutch universities of Delft, Tilburg and Nijmegen, as well as director of the Work and Organization Research Center in Tilburg and the Netherlands Aeromedical Institute.


He is currently President of the European Federation of Psychologists’ Associations (EFPA, 2009) and was founding president of the European Association of Work & Organisational Psychology (1991). He has played an active role in the European Network of Organizational and Work Psychologists (ENOP) especially with regard to the development of the European Reference Model and Minimum Standards for Work and Organizational Psychology.
Robert Roe has a broad international experience. He has collaborated with colleagues from Europe, the United States and Canada, in teaching, research and professional domains. He has played a leading role in several international projects and he has organized dozens of scientific conferences, symposia and workshops in the field of work and organization. He was recently involved in the development of EuroPsy, the European Diploma for Psychologists.
Robert Roe has a broad knowledge of work & organizational psychology and adjacent disciplines. He has worked in areas such as personnel selection and appraisal, career development, work performance, organizational change, organizational culture, impacts of economic transformation, and methods of organizational assessment. His recent work focuses at theoretical and methodological innovations, and aims at enhancing the effectiveness of organizational knowledge and its applications. It includes the development of methods for temporal modelling, methods of multi-perspective (spectral) analysis of organizational problems, and applications of design methodology.


Robert Roe has an extensive record of consulting activities in firms and public organizations. He has amongst others designed the selection system of the Netherlands’ Air Traffic Control. He is member of the Scientific Advisory Board of SHL International.


Robert Roe has taught a wide range of topics, ranging from work and organizational psychology to organizational behaviour, organizational theory, and research methodology to students of psychology, technological, economics and business administration at the undergraduate, graduate, postgraduate and PhD level.


Over the years Robert Roe has written more than 400 scientific and professional publications, including several books. He has also served on the editorial boards of
various scientific journals, currently including ‘Applied Psychology – An International Review’, the ‘Journal of Organizational Behavior’ (USA), and the ‘European Journal of W&O Psychology’ (Europe).
