Rob MacLeod was trained in physics, electrical engineering, and physiology and is a Full Professor of Bioengineering and Internal Medicine (Cardiology) at the University of Utah. He is the co-founder and an Associate Director of the Scientific Computing and Imaging (SCI) Institute, an Associate Director of the Nora Eccles Harrison Cardiovascular Research and Training Institute (CVRTI), and co-founder and Associate Director of the Comprehensive Arrhytymia Research and MAnagement (CARMA) Center. He is also the Vice Chair and Director of the Undergraduate Program in Biomedical Engineering. His research interests include computational electrocardiography (forward and inverse problems), experimental investigation and clinical detection of cardiac ischemia, repolarization abnormalities, cardiac arrhythmias, and defibrillation. For his research, he uses a broad range of techniques including scientific computing, multichannel data acquisition, imaging, signal and image processing, and visualization. Professor MacLeod reviews widely for many different journals and funding agencies, consults with industry, and is passionate about engineering education and communication.
