On Thursday 3 October, the 7th Annual Conference of the Chair of Agri-food Cooperatives of Agri-food cooperatives of Spain and the Universitat de València took place, this time in Oviedo in the province of Asturias.

First of all, we had the intervention of the Director of the Professorship, Professor María Pilar Alguacil Marí, who presented the activities carried out by the Chair, during the previous year and those planned for the current academic year.

This was followed by a debate on various questions from the publication ´Myths and realities of agri-food cooperatives´adressing both tax issues and matters related to innovation, including real examples of two cooperatives:  AIRA(AGACA, The Galician Association of Agri-food Cooperatives) and the Jesús del Perdón Cooperative (Agri-food Cooperatives of Castilla-La Mancha).

We also had the intervention of Central Lechera Asturiana who spoke to us about the impact of the Law for the Promotion of Cooperative Integration, and the advantages of the Priority Agricultural Entities.

Finally, we met the winners of the awards for the best academic paper on agri-food cooperatives.
