Basis of the XXV Edition

Objectives of the Board of Trustees of the Universitat de València - XXV Edition:

  • Encouraging and supporting the collaboration between the society and the university and, in particular, promoting the relationship between the university and its cultural, professional, economic and social environment in the service of the university activity.
  • Promote bonds of mutual cooperation between the Universitat and social representative institutions and entities.
  • To encourage the research activity of the Universitat and, specially, to promote the research tied to the productive sectors of the environment, promoting research and development projects shared between the Universitat and the businesses or institutions.
  • To give grants, awards, honours or recognitions within their area of responsibility.

The Board of Trustees of the Universitat de València (in conjunction with the ADEIT - University-Business Foundation) organises the XXV Edition of the University-Society Awards, which will recognise the work of individuals and institutions that collaborate in a prominent way in the achievement of the aforementioned objectives. This call is regulated by the basis approved by the plenary session of the Board of Trustees of the Universitat de València on April 29th, 2021.

 

CATEGORIES OF THE XXV EDITION

I Alumni Plus «Insigne UV» Award

Aimed at recognising the professional, academic or business excellence of former students of the Universitat de València (not current members of the university community), with a prestigious and proven track record that demonstrates an exemplary and particularly relevant contribution to the progress of society.

APPLICATIONS

  • Applications will be proposed by the Jury or by the interested people through a request form addressed to the President of the Board of Trustees and submitted to the Registry of the Universitat de València before October 8th, 2021, together with a report explaining the merits that make the candidate worthy of deserving the award.
  • Participation in the call implies acceptance of the present terms and conditions.
  • Applications by people who have already received the award in similar or equivalent categories in previous editions of the University-Society Awards will not be admitted.

AWARD

  • The award will be honorary. The winner may advertise the award on their website and forms, documents, etc.
  • The winner will be part of “Insignes UV”.

II Innovation Award

Aimed at recognising researchers or research groups of the Universitat de València who develop innovation or R&D projects with clear and relevant applications to society through the creation of technological based companies or the cooperation with other businesses or organisations that use the results of that research, becoming an example of initiative for students and young researchers of the Universitat.

The Jury will also take into account the social impact of the collaboration and the possible translation of the research activity into postgraduate studies, students’ internships or employment of graduates of the Universitat.

APPLICATIONS

  • Applications will be proposed by the Jury or by the interested people through a request form addressed to the President of the Board of Trustees and submitted to the Registry of the Universitat de València before October 8th, 2021, together with a report explaining the merits that make the candidate worthy of deserving the award and the pertinent accrediting documentation.
  • Photocopies of the merits alleged by the candidates will be admitted. However, the jury might request the originals in order to contrast their validity and concordance. Once the awards are given, the candidates will not be given back the submitted documentation nor a copy of it.

III Digital Humanism Award

Aimed at recognising the application of the digital capabilities among the university community from the Universitat de València in any of their knowledge areas. This award will be given to people who use enabling technologies and computational abilities in a relevant, innovative and original way in the development of their teaching, researching or professional activity. It will also be given to graduates of the Universitat who apply technological development to design a new business model as part of the digital economy.

  • Applications will be proposed by the Jury or by the interested people through a request form addressed to the President of the Board of Trustees and submitted to the Registry of the Universitat de València before October 8th, 2021, together with a report explaining the merits that make the candidate worthy of deserving the award and the pertinent accrediting documentation.

IV University-Society Collaboration Award

Aimed at recognising business or institutions that are benchmarks in their sectors and have special cooperation bonds with the Universitat translated into collaboration agreements, grants, business chairs, postgraduate studies, students’ internships or employment of graduates of the Universitat. These businesses or institutions also need to stand out in their support and cooperation with the Universitat over a long period of time, demonstrating an exemplary career with notable social impact.

  • Applications will be proposed by the Jury or by the interested people through a request form addressed to the President of the Board of Trustees and submitted to the Registry of the Universitat de València before October 8th, 2021, together with a report explaining the merits that make the candidate worthy of deserving the award and the pertinent accrediting documentation.

V Teaching Excellence Award

Aimed to professors of the Universitat de València, of any status or antiquity, who have a stable and permanent link with the Universitat de València during the academic year 2019-2020.

Award criteria the jury may take into account:

  • To have gotten high results in the teacher surveys.
  • To have participated in projects of educative innovation.
  • Publications or communications to congresses directly derived from the teaching activity performed. Contributions not explicitly linked to the author's teaching activity will not be considered.
  • To have designed and published teaching materials directly related to the taught subjects.
  • To have participated in training activities aimed at improving the teaching quality.
  • Implication and commitment in the organisation of training activities with the students.
  • Participation in local, regional, national and international networks, associations and working groups related to teacher training and improvement.
  • These award criteria will be considered on a non-exhaustive and non-exclusive basis.

APPLICATIONS

  • Applications will be submitted through a request form to the Registry of the Universitat de València addressed to the President of the Board of Trustees before October 8th, 2021, together with a report explaining the merits that make the candidate worthy of deserving the award and the pertinent accrediting documentation.
  • Photocopies of the merits alleged by the candidates will be admitted. However, the jury might request the originals in order to contrast their validity and concordance. Once the award is given, the candidates will not be given back the submitted documentation nor a copy of it.
  • Applications by people who have already received the award in similar or equivalent categories in previous editions of the University-Society Awards will not be admitted.
  • It will not be necessary to submit, together with the application, the information on the results of the teaching surveys: this information will be provided to the Jury by the Quality Unit of the University of Valencia.
  • The Jury may also propose applications that, due to their special characteristics, are an example or a benchmark in this modality.
  • Participation in the call implies acceptance of the present terms and conditions.

AWARD

  • The award will be honorary. The winner may advertise the award on their website and forms, documents, etc.
  • The winner will be posted on the Board of Trustees website.

Jury (Awards I to IV)

MEMBERS:

  • President of the Board of Trustees.
  • Principal of the Universitat de València.
  • President of the Relations with Society Committee of the Board of Trustees.
  • Ex officio members of “Insignes UV”.
  • Secretary (with voice but without vote): Secretary of the Board of Trustees.

(The presence of the President of the Board of Trustees, the Principal, the President of the Relations with Society Committee of the Board of Trustees and, at least, three ex officio members of “Insignes UV” will be required for the Jury to be valid.)

The Plenary of the Board of Trustees of the Universitat de València will adopt, having seen the proposal of the Jury, the concession agreement of the Board of Trustees Awards in each of the foreseen modalities.

Jury of the Teaching Excellence Award

MEMBERS:

  • President: Vice-President of the Board of Trustees of the Universitat de València.
  • Vice-Principal for Teaching Staff of the Universitat de València.
  • President of the Relations with Society Committee of the Board of Trustees.
  • Member of Board of Trustees designed by its President.
  • Three professors of the Universitat de València designated by the President of the Board of Trustees.
  • Secretary: Secretary of the Board of Trustees.
  • The Plenary of the Board of Trustees of the Universitat de València will adopt, having seen the proposal of the Jury, the concession agreement of the Board of Trustees Awards in this modality.

BASIS OF THE XXV EDITION.
