The University-Society Awards, honorary in nature, are promoted and organised by the Board of Trustees of the Universitat de València in conjunction with the University-Business Foundation (ADEIT).

The 2/2003 Law, January 28th, of the Board of Trustees Governing body of the Valencian public universities defines (1st Article) the Board of Trustees as the university body by which the Valencian society participates in the Universitat de València. This law states that one of the Board of Trustees’ objective is “to encourage and support cooperation between society and the Universitat and, specially, to promote relationships between the Universitat and its cultural, professional, economic and social environment, keeping in mind the quality of the university activity” (2nd Article).
 

In particular, the 4th Article of the Law entrusts the Board of Trustees to:

• Promote bonds of mutual cooperation between the Universitat and social representative institutions and entities.
• To encourage the research activity of the Universitat and, specially, to promote the research tied to the productive sectors of the environment, promoting research and development projects shared between the Universitat and the businesses or institutions.
• To promote activities that bring university students closer to the job demands of businesses, institutions and the Administration in order to favour the professional integration of university graduates.
• To give grants, awards, honours or recognitions within their area of responsibility.

Who supports the initiative

The University-Society Conferences and their awards, during their long history, have received the unconditional support of the Universitat de València and the business sector.
Furthermore, the local, autonomous and national Administration have traditionally supported this event with the presence of their biggest representatives. Ministers of various departments, councillors and municipal representatives of Valencia have participated in this conference in various occasions.
The University-Society Conference has received special support from the various presidents of the Valencian Government who have also attended the event as honorary presidents of the University-Business Foundation of the Universitat de València.
