Goals
- Study of the electrophysiological properties that affect the processes involved in the initiation, perpetuation and cessation of cardiac arrhythmias.
- Study of the role of calcium homeostasis in arrhythmogenesis and the effects of drugs acting on intracellular calcium dynamics.
- Analysis of arrhythmogenic electrophysiological changes induced by ventricular mechanical stretch.
- Analysis of the protective electrophysiological effects of physical exercise in relation to the induction, maintenance and cessation of cardiac arrhythmias.
- Protective mechanisms against myocardial damage due to ischemia-reperfusion and against the proarrhythmogenic effects of post-infarction remodelling.
