ICS de Lisboa

He is on a three-month post-doctoral stay at the ICS (Institute of Social Sciences) of the University of Lisbon.

During his stay Megías is participating in the project ÉPOCA: "Corrupção e crise económica, uma combinação perigosa: Compreender as interacções processo-resultado na explicação do apoio à democracia".

The specific objectives are threefold and interrelated: 1) Consolidation - consolidating knowledge about citizens' attitudes, perceptions and experiences of corruption in democracy and assessing trends before and after the crisis; 2) Innovation - advancing theoretical knowledge in this field and in terms of measuring perceptions of procedures and political support; 3) Validation - providing an experimental field to test methodologies and data collection techniques. The project uses new experimental methods to overcome some of the recurrent problems in using population surveys to study normative issues, such as the question of social desirability in responses, and to test cause-effect relationships between different social groups and policy objectives.
