Marco Guglielmo presented his experience as candidate
Dr Marco Guglielmo, Postdoctoral Researcher for project Imagine (if) Platforms (IMDIGICOMM), gave a speech during the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships (MSCA) Open Day at the University of Valencia on the 6th of March.
The event, hosted by the R+D+I Internacional UV Office, aimed to introduce doctoral students to the opportunities, requirements and challenges of the MSCA programme.
IMDIGICOMM was among the success stories through which future applicants could discuss enhancing the path towards an MSCA application. Dr Marco Guglielmo’s speech focused on four points. First, there is a need to design research projects that fit Horizon’s Europe research strategy, which, among others, places strong relevance on the challenges of the digital transition. Second, by giving examples of how IMDIGICOMM unfolded through a fruitful collaboration with Professor Oscar Barbera, Marco emphasised the need to identify supervisors to develop an ongoing feedback and knowledge exchange process. Third, familiarising with the requirements and the technicalities of the MSCA application, for instance by reaching out to past successful applicant, is key to overcome certain challenges of the application. Finally, Marco stressed out the importance of balancing the commitment to the application with the researchers’ well-being.
