He will be a visiting professor at UV during the final months of his doctoral thesis
Joan Enguer, an associate researcher at the University of Heidelberg, will begin a four-month stay at the Department of Constitutional Law and Political Science and the Digipol group of the University of Valencia this September. This stay coincides with the final stages of his doctoral thesis.
Enguer obtained his degree in Law and Political Science and Public Administration from the University of Valencia in 2018. Subsequently, he completed two master's degrees: one in Secondary Education and Vocational Training at the University of Valencia in 2019, and another in Political Analysis at the Open University of Catalonia in 2020. He is currently finalizing his PhD in Political Science at the University of Heidelberg, Germany.
His research focuses on comparative climate policy, multilevel governance, and party ideology. Among his most notable publications are studies on the preferences of political parties regarding climate change and the energy transition in Spain, as well as the analysis of climate policies at the regional and local levels.
Enguer has participated in numerous international conferences, both as a speaker and commentator. He has also been involved in research projects funded by prestigious institutions such as the European Research Council. Additionally, he is a member of the Deep Decarbonisation (DeepDCarb) research group and the Nationalism and Climate Obstruction working group at the Institute for Environment and Society at Brown University.
The stay at Digipol will allow him to explore the relevance of digital transformation for improving the governance of environmental policies, thus enriching his research and providing new perspectives to his work. This experience will be crucial for completing his doctoral thesis with a broader vision of the relationship between governance, party politics, environmental policy, and the use of new technologies
