The book The Left and Digital Politics. Political Parties from Platform Neoliberalism to Platform Socialism by Marco Guglielmo, a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Valencia, has been published in open access by Westminster University Press.

The book analyzes how digital platforms are not just devices and algorithms, but structures that organize society under the leadership of platform capitalism and its allies in political institutions. While we know that this hegemony generates exploitation and inequalities, it is also driving a politics of resistance among platform workers and digital commons communities.

However, less is known about how the left has evolved to influence digital politics. What do left-wing parties think and do about platform societies? This book answers these questions through a Gramscian theory of (counter)hegemony in platform societies and a comparative analysis of the ideologies and practices of left-wing parties in France, Italy, and Spain.
