
Several experts debated the impact of digitalization on democracy in an event co-organized with the PAGODA Chair
Last Tuesday, October 22, from, a round table titled “Political Communication and Digital Mass Media: More or Less Democracy?” took place at the Faculty of Law of the University of Valencia.
The event, organized by Professor Marco Guglielmo, included presentations by three prominent experts in the field of communication and digital politics in Spain:
- Tatiana Fernández Paredes, from the Open University of Catalonia, spoke about “The Far Right and the Occupation of Digital Spaces in the Attention Economy”.
- Fabio Lupato García, from the Complutense University of Madrid, addressed the topic “Political Parties and Digital Democratic Innovations: Successes or Failures?”.
- Ignacio Jesús Serrano Contreras, from the University of Granada, presented “Everything You Wanted to Know About (the Lies of) Artificial Intelligence and Never Dared to Ask”.
The session was moderated by Ramón Villaplana Jiménez, from the University of Murcia.
This round table was a unique opportunity to discuss the challenges and opportunities that digitalization presents for democracy with the students of the course “Political and Institutional Communication” of the degree in Political Science and Public Administration and the double degree in Law and Political Science and Public Administration at UV.
The event was supported by the Càtedra PAGODA (PAGODA Chair) of the University of Valencia, funded by the Generalitat Valenciana.
